When you purchase a treadmill it is a signification investment, you need to ensure that you do significant measures to protect it from dust and grime, damage and faulty maintenance.

First your should purchase a treadmill mat. These mats protect the treadmill from picking up carpet fibers and from damaging your floor.

Next you should also keep it very clean and dust free. Dust can stick to the lubrication that is used to keep the treadmill motor running smoothly and keeping from un-needed friction from your treadmill belt.

Weekly you should do the following maintenance. Wipe down the display with a mild cleaning solution, make sure your rag is damp, not soaked. Immediately take a soft dry cloth and dry the screen off.  Next with the same solution wipe down the handrails and vacuum around the deck area and look for any items that have possibly been put near the treadmill that could get caught in the treadmill belt. Remove these if necessary.

Finally, you should refer to your owners manual and check the manufacturer’s recommend lubrication suggestions.
